George Town Festival 2022

Ciné France, an open air night movie screening with “Dilili à Paris”, by Michel OcelotSet in the City of Light during one of its major artistic heydays, the simply crafted story follows a young girl named Dilili who arrives as a stowaway from New Caledonia and gets caught up in a mystery plot that will take her through the upper reaches and lower depths of Paris.

She’s accompanied in her quest by an earnest delivery boy, Orel, who seems to personally know every major figure from the period, ranging from Marie Curie to Marcel Proust to Louis Pasteur to Toulouse-Lautrec, and introduces his little detective pal to a host of thinkers and creators who have since become household names.

The homage to Belle Epoque Paris is entertaining. Teen and adult Francophiles or history buffs will particularly enjoy visiting the who’s who of fin de siècle stars of the arts, letters, and sciences.

Le Corbusier’s Maquettes: The representation of modern architecture

Trace the evolution of Le Corbusier’s mastery of space and time and his influence on the city that welcomes us today. Le Corbusier exhibition will feature models of Le Corbusier’s iconic buildings from the private collection of RT+Q Architects.

Le Corbusier, a designer, an artist, a pioneer, and a unique personality

Le Corbusier is a French-Swiss architect, designer, painter, urban planner, writer, and international luminary. With 17 of his buildings on the UNESCO World Heritage List, he is known for his profound impact on the 20th century.

Le Corbusier believed that the old, chaotic and dilapidated cities should be demolished and replaced by orderly and rigorously planned metropolises. These should be centered around a central business district filled with glass and steel skyscrapers, occupied by corporate offices and the residences of the rich. Smaller skyscrapers, set in the middle of a vast green space, would radiate outwards, with all the amenities residents might need within easy reach. His ‘Cité Radieuse’ marked a break with the contemporary city by abandoning its class system, with housing now allocated according to family size rather than economic status.

The Great Story of Infinite Drawing – Augmented Reality Exhibition

Stuck in her bed following an accident in 2017, young French illustrator Elly Oldman created an Instagram account of endless drawing: @theinfinitedrawing. There, she deploys all her creativity and overflowing imagination in her very personal graphic style. Some 200 Instagram posts, 15 metres of drawing, and 18,000 followers later, she partners with Electroni[k] and works with &Friends and Benjamin Le Baron, mixing drawing and augmented reality (AR) to create “The Great Story of the Infinite Drawing”, a giant and evolving interactive fresco. Through the fresco, Elly Oldman tells us an incredible wacky fable with an ecological and environmental background – no action is small and everyone, at their own level, can make an effort to respect the planet, by considering how they can manage their rubbish, reduce their environmental impact, and relationship with other people.

“The Great Story of Infinite Drawing” is an original augmented reality (AR) work of art from Elly Oldman, supported and produced by Electroni[k], in co-production with Le Cube, Center for digital creation, Stereolux and with the support of Artefacto.
